San Pedro or Wachuma in Peru is a columnar cactus that is part of various magical and religious manifestations dating from pre-Hispanic times, cultures such as: Chavín (1,200 - 200 BC.), Paracas (300 - 0 BC.), Nazca (100 BC - 700 BC), Mochica (200 - 700 BC), Chimú (1,100 - 1,470 BC) and Inca (1,438 -1,532 BC); hence the representations in crafts in general. These ceremonies are performed to this day.
It is believed that the name of San Pedro refers to the connection with divine sources, since it has the name of the Christian saint who guards the gates of heaven (San Pedro); Wachuma in Quechua means dizzy or drunk.
In Peru, San Pedro or Wachuma is used by shamans, who use it to cure the ills of patients such as: Alcoholism, depression among others; just as they also use it to heal the soul; which indicates that the functions of a shaman are not restricted to physical ills. The shaman's goal in his healing ritual is to make the patient blossom with the ceremony, to open up the subconscious. Thanks to its healing benefits, the plant helps to understand things in life with great harmony and clarity. All you need to be a part of this ceremony is to lose your fear.
Ayahuasca is a Quechua word that means “vine of the spirits”. Ayahuasca is a sacred plant, considered magical and medicinal, it is part of the so-called master plants. Ayahuasca is a brew used ritually by shamans, healers or ayahuasca masters, from Amazonian ethnic groups, with more than five thousand years of knowledge. It is a way to obtain the expansion of consciousness (healing and spiritual reflection), because you connect with the universe and nature. Ayahuasca is not a drug, it is spiritual life, it is a gift from the gods. Ayahuasca is a master because it is hard with its teaching but it does it with love, it opens your interior and awakens your being and you are born again; with Ayahuasca you always lose the battle to be reborn stronger, more alive and in communion with life itself. A true inner happiness, because medicine cleanses and heals wounds and scars of the soul; purifies blood and frees you from diseases (depression and stress; diabetes, kidney stones, among others). You learn to value your life better, you understand better your past, you live better the present and you project yourself better into the future.
